Nursery Necessities
"Have a small lamp in the room. When you get up to feed/change them, the light shouldn't be bright enough to disturb them, just bright enough to see what you're doing. That way, the room stays dim and calm." -OhSewCrafty
"A light with adjustable brightness levels." - MrsTechie
"I would say a glider/rocking chair. When my other two were little, I used the rocking chair all of the time" - flgirl79
"STORAGE! We have a smaller room, with no closet, so being creative with storage has been key. A good size dresser, a crib with room for storage underneath, shelving with baskets, and a changing table with baskets (if its not enclosed)." -erind0213
"Small lamp. Bonus points if it is a touch lamp that has various settings for how dim it will be. I got one for about $15 at Walmart and we used it all the time when DS was a baby. And the sound machine (otherwise known as the baby crack machine)." -Mjmksb04
"My nursery necessity is a white noise machine (or fan)... I found this one out with my nephews and it made all of the difference in sleeping through the night for both of them.
My second necessity is a blanket for me to put over myself while nursing, I'm always chilly and those tiny baby blankets aren't going to cut it!" -lulu3061
"The boppy! I used that thing daily for at least 7 months with DS and I plan to this time as well. From breastfeeding to just having him chill out on it, it was a lifesaver!"

"Bring dollar bills to the hospital. Daddy might need something to munch on and cant get to the cafe right away. There is usually a vending machine in l&d. The other idea is to bring to bring snacks that both mommy and daddy like. If anything needs to be refrigerated, there is always a frig in l&d" -lylyne21
"Besides all the obvious things like a crib and dresser and change table, I'm going to say music and a low lit lamp. I think it's nice to have some soft music playing while breastfeeding for those nights that the baby doesn't want to sleep and it will help relax both of us and help the baby get back to sleep. Also a light that you can turn on but that isn't bright like the overhead light...so you can see what you're doing in the middle of the night but it doesn't blind all of us. " -abovewedding
"A baby swing. Both DD's loved thiers, and the swing gave me the freedom to lay in my bed, and know that my DD was right by my side. I had portable swings with both DD's, and could carry the swing into the kitchen when I made dinner, the living room when I watched t.v, or even the bedroom when I needed some down time. It was also a huge help when I had to take my DD to family and friends homes, I suppose it was a bit of known comfort for them. " -Mamita10
