Maci Jacquelyn arrived Sunday, November 28th at 3:49pm. She weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces, and is 18 inches long. She is perfect and we are in love with her.
On Sunday morning I woke up at 1:30 having contractions about 10 minutes apart. I tossed, turned, bumped, and messed around the house. Finally at 5:00am I took a shower and started getting my stuff together. SO and I discussed when I should call and decided to bake up a bubble bread for breakfast and I called around 6:30am, when my contractions were stronger and about 5-7 minutes apart, but not extremely horrible. They told me to head to the hospital and we would see what was going on.
We got to the hospital around 7:30am and they checked me and I was 1.5 centimeters and partially effaced with a low, low head, earlier in the week the head was at a 0, but I was not dialated or effaced at all. They said to walk around for 45 minutes and they would re-check my progress.
Well, after 45 minutes, I went to 2.5 centimters and was admitted to the hospital at around 10:15am or so. By 12noon I was 3-4 centimeters and 100% effaced. We continued to walk and by my second walk, I could barely stand, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to get the epidural yet or not. I had to get my GBS drugs, but I refused other pain medication. I gave in and my contractions got so incredibly strong and painful, and I could barely sit up. I got the epidural around 2:15pm-we had to wait on the doctor for about 45 minutes. At that time, the head was so low, I couldn't sit straight to get the epi, because I was already ready to push. The doc said to try and nap, but after he left, the nurse checked me, my water was leaking (with meconium) and I was ready to push-CRAZY!
I started pushing around 3 or so, after the epi kicked in I couldn't feel a thing-it was amazing. After easy, easy pushing for 40 min or so, the doc came in, I pushed 2 more times and out she came! They had to immediately take her due to the meconium in the water, but she checked out great and I was numb for a LONG while after since I got the epi at the last minute-which was not my plan at all! I wanted it all along. I cannot believe how calm I was the whole time, and really how smooth it went.
It was a pretty easy labor for my first baby and I am extremely lucky and blessed with my beautiful daughter!
