Short version of birth story, as I'm typing with one hand and snuggling baby with the other :)
My water broke on Wednesday afternoon as soon as I walked in the door after a long day of work (thank god there and not in front of my high school classes!) We packed up and went to the hospital pretty quickly. Upon arrival, I was only 2 cm, 60% effaced, and they put me on a pitocin drip almost immediately.
I labored through the night, and they upped my pitocin drip just about every hour. I asked for an epidural pretty early in the night, as they weren't sure it would work or not because of the spinal fusion rods from a surgery I had earlier in life. It worked wonders (LOVED IT!) but they had to keep trying new combinations of it, as it would wear off easily. My progress was slow, and I threw up every time they increased the pitocin (16 times all together!!) Definitely made for a long night, but by 8 am, I was finally ready to push.
At 8:39 a.m. on Thursday, December 9th, Miles Daniel arrived (2 weeks early!) weighing in at 7lbs, 8oz, 19 inches long and perfectly healthy! :) We are madly in love with our little guy, who loves to snuggle, is a champ at breastfeeding, and loves to listen to daddy sing.
