I had my 40w5d appointment with the midwife on Thursday Dec 12th. We had already decided to talk induction dates if we did not have a baby by then. She checked me and I was still only a fingertip dilated and my cervix was very posterior. We had thought I had started thinning out at 37 weeks but I hadn't made any progress since then. We jokingly asked her if she had anything that night because as much as I didn't want to induce I was ready to meet my baby. She did. We were inducing 8 hours later.
We checked into the hospital that evening around 7:30 pm and they started me on Cervadil at 10:00 pm. I was having contractions that I couldn't feel and we were hoping I was one of those lucky women that could deliver naturally and not feel a thing. Nope. I started feeling my contractions around 3:00 am and at 9:00 am they took the cervadil out and started the pitocin. I couldn't handle the contractions after the cervadil and threw up on DH. I decided the epidural maybe wasn't a bad thing and because I had thrown up it didn't take long for the anesthesiologist to come into my room and get it started. I was able to sleep and didn't feel anything after that. I progressed at about 1 cm an hour until just before 4:00 pm I jumped from 6 cm to 10 cm and was ready to push. I pushed for 25 minutes and Diana Jane was born at 4:15 pm on Friday December 12th. She weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. I had two minor tears. I don't think they were even bad enough to classify as 1st degree but she stitched them anyways because of their location. I forgot the actual term but they both went up towards my clitoris and could have possibly stung a lot if we did not sew them up. She is a very happy baby and has been breastfeeding and sleeping very well.
